Leading Ladies: MELANIE WEBB

Melanie Webb of WebbWell

Meet Melanie Webb: Seeker. Adventurer. Activist. Small Business Owner. Wearer of many hats. Since 2007, Melanie has helped create healthy communities, one outdoor wellness retreat at a time. She recently became an education provider for the American Council on Exercise with her course, Mother Nature’s Gym Outdoor Fitness Retreat Guide Certification. In 2007, Melanie launched Sol Fitness Adventures while working full-time as a personal trainer in Washington, D.C. and her new label, WebbWell, recently launched.

Melanie was a varsity high school athlete, playing both softball and volleyball, which led to chronic injuries. She spent all four seasons in physical therapy, where her P.T. mentored her in body arts. At 16, she discovered fitness videos curated by Kathy Smith and Tamilee Webb and has wanted to be a personal trainer ever since.

It’s as simple as that. Melanie loves the human body and nature. The two together are phenomenal powerhouses of potential energy and joy. Not only did she get 6 years of University training, but a lifetime’s worth of adventures, injuries, and discoveries. Sharing her skills and knowledge to help others discover their own amazing body and connection to nature brings her a lot of joy and sense of purpose.

With Mother Nature’s Gym now approved for 1.3 CEC’s in the fitness industry, she is focusing on helping gyms, studios, and rec centers stay open by teaching her methods to their staff. The course is available online and workshop in Park City, Utah. She is working hard to pivot online and creating content for a wellness app; both exciting and challenging!

If Melanie wasn’t in her current career, she would have been a professional athlete or musician. Random Fun Fact: Melanie loves insects and won a college scholarship and trip to Chicago from the 4-H for her entomology collection when she was 16.

A thinking man can never be a party man.

1. First thing you do in the morning? Hit snooze a few times so I can watch the morning sunlight twinkle on my walls.

2. Best advice you’ve received? “Marriage is a damn hard thing!”

3. Dream vacation to escape to? Anywhere tropical and seaside. I especially love Mexico, Bali, and Kauai.

4. Everything tastes better with… Dark chocolate

5. How do you stay organized? I actually love tidying and organizing. My shirts are hung by color, my books by size and category. And I’ve used the same At-A-Glance day planner since 2004, it lets me see the big picture of my week instead of getting lost in technology.

6. What can you not live without? A pretty place to go in nature.
